PCOS Doesn’t Have to Be a Lifelong Sentence.

Sep 15, 2025
Did you know that 1 in 10 women of reproductive age are diagnosed with PCOS? And even more go undiagnosed for years, struggling with symptoms from irregular periods to painful cycles to horrible acne and even infertility without knowing the root cause.

PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) is one of the most common hormonal disorders for women — yet one of the most misunderstood.

Here’s what I want you to know: PCOS is not a one-size-fits-all condition. In fact, there are different criteria that doctors use to diagnose it, including:
  • Irregular or missing periods
  • High androgens result in symptoms like acne, excess hair growth, or hair thinning.
  • Polycystic ovaries seen on ultrasound

You don’t need to have all three to be diagnosed. And the truth is, PCOS is more than just a reproductive issue — it’s also a complex metabolic and hormonal disorder.

The most common underlying drivers of PCOS include:
  • Insulin resistance → when your cells don’t respond properly to insulin, leading to high blood sugar and disrupted hormones.
  • Chronic stress → elevated cortisol can throw off ovulation and worsen symptoms.
  • Inflammation → which disrupts the delicate balance of your reproductive and metabolic systems.

But here’s the good news: PCOS doesn’t have to be a lifelong sentence. With the right tools, many women experience significant improvements in their cycles, metabolism, and symptoms, and for many, it's as though the condition was never there in the first place if they remain consistent with the lifestyle changes.
Some lifestyle changes that make a big difference:
  • Balance your blood sugar → pair protein, fat, and fiber at every meal.
  • Reduce stress load → prioritize sleep, movement you enjoy, and stress-management practices.
  • Support ovulation → through nutrient-dense foods, key supplements, and cycle-tracking.
