Is your hair falling out? Here’s why!

Aug 18, 2022

Did you know that 30% of women by the age of 30 experience severe hair loss…

By age 50 that statistic drastically climbs to 50%.

Trust me, I know how devastating it can be because our hair has a real impact on our confidence, and in my early 20s, I was losing hair like you wouldn’t believe.

So why are you losing your hair? When a lot of women think about hair loss, the first hormonal imbalance that comes to mind might be PCOS… but more likely if you’re losing your hair it's because of:

•a thyroid condition

•low iron

• insulin resistance

A recent study actually shows that 90% of women who experience hair loss are iron deficient and deficient in the amino acid lysine.

You know the drill, we have to find the root cause…

After giving birth, reaching menopause, or experiencing other hormonal imbalances, it’s not uncommon for women to start losing hair. And while hair loss is a normal process (the average person sheds about 50-100 hairs/day), it’s also something that can be remedied by addressing underlying health and hormonal problems.

If hormones can zap your energy and make you gain weight... it’s no wonder they have an impact on your hair…

So how do we know what’s going on with you?

🩸 CBC

🩸 FERRITIN - should be > 40 to stabilize hair loss and > 70 for new hair growth

🩸 TSH, FREE T3, REVERSE T3, FREE T4

🩸 CORTISOL

🩸 FASTING INSULIN

🩸 FASTING GLUCOSE

🩸 HBA1C

🩸 TESTOSTERONE (free and total)

Additionally, there are nutrient deficiencies associated with hair loss so making sure you have the proper macro and micronutrients is key.

The good news 🗞: you can often stop hair loss once you rebalance your hormones. My work with clients is to implement protocols to get to the root cause, rather than wasting your money on serums or shampoos that only work as long as you use them.
